Terms of Use
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using Speedometer Lite ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with any part of these terms, please don't use the app.
Plain language: These terms cover how you can use the app, what it's designed for, and important safety information. We've tried to keep it straightforward and honest.
What the App Does
Speedometer Lite is a GPS-based speedometer application that:
- Displays your current speed based on GPS data from your device
- Tracks distance traveled during trips
- Records trip history including routes, distances, and speed data
- Shows your position on a map
- Provides optional telemetry displays like altitude and heading
- Offers customizable themes and display preferences
The app is designed for informational and recreational purposes. Some features are included free; others require an optional Pro upgrade.
Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
Speedometer Lite offers an optional Pro upgrade that unlocks premium themes, app icons, full trip history, advanced trip analytics, and auto-start/auto-stop trip recording. Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system.
Available Plans
- Weekly subscription — auto-renewing, billed every week until cancelled.
- Annual subscription — auto-renewing, billed every year until cancelled.
- Lifetime — a one-time, non-recurring purchase that grants permanent Pro access on your Apple ID. Does not auto-renew.
The current price for each plan is shown on the Pro upgrade screen inside the app at the time of purchase. Prices are set by Apple in your local currency and may vary by country, region, taxes, and currency exchange rates. Apple may adjust prices to reflect changes in those factors.
Payment
All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase. We do not see, store, or process your payment details.
Auto-Renewal of Subscriptions
Weekly and annual plans are auto-renewable subscriptions. By purchasing a subscription, you authorize Apple to charge your Apple ID account for the renewal at the price shown at purchase. Specifically:
- Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Apple charges your Apple ID account for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Renewal pricing matches the original purchase price unless Apple notifies you of a price change in advance, in accordance with Apple's policies.
How to Cancel
You can cancel an active subscription at any time directly through Apple:
- On your iPhone or iPad: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select Speedometer Lite, and tap Cancel Subscription.
- On the web: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions
Cancelling stops future renewals. You retain Pro access until the end of the current billing period. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Lifetime Purchase
The Lifetime plan is a one-time, non-recurring in-app purchase. It grants Pro access for the lifetime of the app on your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID using "Restore Purchases" inside the app. Lifetime is not a subscription and does not auto-renew.
Refunds
All refund requests are handled by Apple, not by us. We are not able to issue refunds directly. To request a refund for any subscription or one-time purchase:
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select the relevant transaction.
- Or contact Apple Support directly.
Refund eligibility is determined by Apple under their standard policies, which can vary by region.
Free Trials and Promotional Offers
If a free trial or introductory offer is shown for a plan, the terms (length and post-trial price) will be clearly displayed at the point of purchase. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription will begin and Apple will charge your Apple ID account at the price shown.
Restoring Purchases
If you have previously purchased Pro and switch to a new device, sign in with the same Apple ID and tap "Restore Purchases" on the Pro upgrade screen inside the app. This restores your active subscription or lifetime purchase.
Legacy Users
Users who downloaded an early version of Speedometer Lite (prior to the introduction of the Pro upgrade) retain full access to all features without any purchase. This legacy access is recognized automatically based on your App Store download history.
Important Safety Information
Safety first: GPS speed readings can vary due to signal quality, environmental conditions, and device limitations. Do not rely solely on this app for critical speed or navigation decisions.
GPS Accuracy
The speed displayed in the app is calculated from GPS signals received by your device. GPS accuracy can be affected by:
- Signal obstructions (tunnels, tall buildings, dense tree cover)
- Atmospheric conditions
- Your device's GPS hardware quality
- The time since GPS was last used (initial lock time)
The app displays a GPS signal indicator to help you understand current signal quality, but this is an estimate and not a guarantee of accuracy.
Safe Usage
When using the app while driving or operating any vehicle:
- Always refer to your vehicle's speedometer as the primary speed reference
- Do not operate the app in ways that distract you from driving
- Set up your preferred settings before starting your journey
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
- Pull over safely if you need to interact with the app
The app is not a replacement for your vehicle's speedometer or any certified speed measurement device.
Acceptable Use
You may use Speedometer Lite for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- Use the app in any way that could endanger yourself or others
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
- Use the app to violate any laws or regulations
- Redistribute, sell, or create derivative works from the app
- Remove or alter any copyright notices or branding
Intellectual Property
The app, including its design, code, graphics, themes, and icons, is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. All rights not explicitly granted in these terms are reserved.
The "Speedometer Lite" name and logo are the property of the app developer.

Permissions
The app requests certain device permissions to function:

- Location (Always/Background): Optional, enables trip recording with the screen off.
- Motion Sensors: Optional, powers G-force and artificial horizon displays.
You can modify these permissions at any time through your device's Settings app. Revoking location permission will prevent the app from displaying speed data.
Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it from your device. This will also delete all locally stored data.
We reserve the right to discontinue the app or certain features at any time, though we'll try to provide notice when possible.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you through the App Store update notes.
